by Joseph Canisius Dias

woman on horse

Fleeting from cloud to cloud

Winking, motioning, beauty endowed

The mane and hair-entwined

Galloping on heaven’s course

Hugging her whinnying steed

I follow, on a gust of wind

Lovestruck and wet from moisture

Hurled by storms, shocked by lightning

I persist, I swoop down on her

Gazing at her naked countenance

and just as I reach out

She holds out her hand

Our eyes lock, our hearts rumble

The wind drops, fast I fall

Jolted into a rude awakening

Desperate to re-enter my dream

I sleep again but she’s forever gone!
